Sylvia is an Aging Life Care Manager, Certified Dementia Practitioner, and Certified Grief Recovery Specialist. She has worked in the field of aging and disability services in the private and public sectors for over 20 years as a Life Care Manager and Advocate. She recently started her own Care Management practice, Holistic Family Solutions, where she provides care management, person-centered planning, and coaching to individuals, families, and professionals as they navigate the complexities of chronic illness and aging.
In her earlier years as an advocate, Sylvia was called upon as an expert witness before the Board of Education and, in 2014, testified before the U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on Health regarding mental health reform. She has been a State Trainer for the National Alliance on Mental Illness Family Education Class. In 1992–93, Sylvia worked alongside Mother Teresa and the Missionaries of Charity at Prem Dan, her home for the destitute and dying in Calcutta, India. This led to her lifelong commitment to global volunteerism.
